What are Canine Tapeworms (Tapeworms in Dogs)?
Tapeworms live in the intestines of dogs, cats, humans, rats, mice, fish and other species. They consist of a head and a long flat body made up of many segments. The tapeworm body can be very long. Tapeworms that are several feet long have been found.
Each tapeworm segment has the ability to reproduce and produce new tapeworms. The head of a tapeworm stays attatched to the pet's intestinal lining while tapeworm segments are passed in the pet's feces. If the disease is left untreated, tapeworm segments can become so long that they obstruct the intestines of your pet.
